Fab Lab Stoughton is a digital fabrication lab and makerspace located at Stoughton High School in Stoughton, Wisconsin. Built during the 2012-2013 school year and opened to students in fall 2013, the Fab Lab provides hands-on access to modern fabrication equipment for students and members of the community.
Fab Lab Stoughton offers courses for students in grades 9-12, Summer School classes for middle-level students, and workshops for community members interested in digital fabrication, design, engineering and making.
Fab Lab Stoughton provides access to Epilog laser cutting and engraving equipment, with tutorials covering the Epilog Laser Mini, Epilog Laser Helix, Epilog Laser Third Axis and Epilog Laser Fusion M2.
Laser cutting and engraving can be used for prototypes, signs, models, personalized designs, educational projects and other digital fabrication applications.
Learn 3D printing and rapid prototyping using MakerBot equipment, including the MakerBot Replicator 2 and 5th Generation Replicator.
Students and makers can transform digital 3D models into physical objects for prototypes, engineering projects, educational models and custom parts.
Fab Lab Stoughton offers Roland vinyl cutting for creating custom graphics, lettering, decals, signs and other precision-cut designs.
Users can learn how to prepare digital artwork and convert their designs into physical vinyl projects using computer-controlled cutting equipment.
Explore Roland CNC milling and desktop machining for precision fabrication, prototyping and model making. CNC milling allows digital designs to be transformed into accurately machined physical components.
This technology provides hands-on experience with subtractive manufacturing, CNC machining and digital prototyping.
Fab Lab Stoughton provides opportunities to work with ShopBot CNC equipment and VCarve software for computer-controlled cutting and fabrication.
ShopBot CNC technology can be used to turn digital designs into larger physical components, patterns, prototypes and fabrication projects while teaching practical CNC design and manufacturing skills.
Students and makers can also learn about plasma cutting and computer-controlled metal fabrication. Plasma cutting provides another approach to digital manufacturing and expands the range of fabrication techniques available in the Fab Lab.
Fab Lab Stoughton supports electronics, engineering and maker projects, allowing participants to combine electronic components with parts created using 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines and other fabrication equipment.
Community workshops provide opportunities to learn practical skills using technologies such as:
Fab Lab Stoughton combines STEM education, engineering, digital design and hands-on manufacturing in one learning environment. Students can gain experience with technologies and workflows used to move from an initial idea to a digital design and finally to a physical object.
Programs are available for high school students, middle-level Summer School students and community members interested in developing practical fabrication and technology skills.
