FabLab Devon | Digital Makerspace & Workshops in Exeter Library

FabLab Devon is a pioneering digital makerspace located inside Exeter Library, standing as the first of its kind in any UK public library since opening its doors in 2014. It provides a unique space to explore digital making techniques using the latest technology, including 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC routing, and more. The lab offers engaging workshops for adults and children, a flexible Membership program for adults, and an outreach programme to bring digital making to the wider community.

Opening Hours

Please note that opening hours may vary depending on staff and volunteer availability. The standard schedule operates as follows:

• Alternate Mondays: 10:00 – 13:00
• Tuesdays & Wednesdays: 10:00 – 13:00 & 14:00 – 17:00
• Fridays: 09:00 – 13:00 & 14:00 – 18:00
• Alternate Saturdays: 09:00 – 13:00 & 14:00 – 16:45
• Alternate Sundays: 12:00 – 14:45

Membership Options

Five tailored types of annual membership are available for individuals aged 16 and over. All options include three machine inductions and ongoing expert support from the lab team:

• Adult Individual: £72 per year
• Student Individual: £54 per year
• Low-income Individual: £20 per year
• Business (Profit Making): £150 per year for two people
• Business (Charity / Non-profit): £100 per year for two people

Note: Additional people can be added to any business membership for £50 each when joining simultaneously. After completing the initial three inductions, standard machine usage charges apply.

Machine Usage Charges

• Large Laser Cutter: £10 / hour
• Small Laser Cutter: £8 / hour
• CNC Router: £15 / hour
• Digital Embroidery / Vinyl Cutting: £5 / hour
• Dye-Sublimation Printing: £3 per A3 sheet
• A1 Printing: Colour £9 / Black & White £4.50 (other sizes available upon request)
• 3D Printing (Members): £1 / hour + 5p per gram of PLA filament
• 3D Printing (Non-members): £2 / hour + 5p per gram of PLA filament

The Bespoke Making Service

Prefer to have your project professionally made without becoming a full member? You can easily utilize the in-house making service. Simply email your project details and design vector files to receive a custom quote. Please note that machine charges for this standalone service are 50% higher than regular member rates.

Taster Sessions & Gift Vouchers

Try a one-hour introductory Taster Session in laser cutting or 3D design/printing for just £15. This package includes a small custom-made design for you to keep. Group sessions can also be arranged on request by emailing your availability to the team.
