I have always been interested in working as a designer-maker ever since I graduated from University in 2005.
I have worked in a variety of different avenues throughout my career so far, textiles, print making, book binding and now I’m creating work that is experimenting with combinations of technologies — including LEDs, sensors, laser cutting — and making my creations interactive.
I have been the Creative Director of Def-Proc for 2½ years. Working along side a Design Engineer we have been helping our clients develop their proof of concepts, prototypes and then on to small scale manufacture; either in-house or outsourced to more specialized businesses.
As I am from a design background, the work I produce is part of our research and development. This helps me maintain a high level of understanding around new and interesting ways technology can be used with in our client work. But also, this practice is a lot of fun and we get to play and create interesting work that incorporates design and the technology.
